Piston rod
Also called: rod, cylinder rod, chrome rod
The piston rod connects the piston inside the cylinder to the load outside it, and carries the cylinder's force. It slides in and out through the gland on every stroke.
Because its surface passes through the rod seal and wiper, it must be hard, smooth and straight. Rods are commonly made from Ck45 steel, hard-chrome plated, ground and polished.
