Working pressure
Also called: operating pressure, system pressure, nominal pressure
Working pressure is the pressure a hydraulic system or component is designed to run at continuously, usually given in bar, or in psi in the NFPA system. 1 bar is about 14.5 psi, and 10 bar = 1 MPa.
Cylinders, hoses, valves and seals are all rated for a maximum working pressure. A system should be set so that no component works above its rating, with relief valves to protect against overload.
